God's Power Changes Me - 66-80

66. What is God's glory, His character like, and how can I be like Him?

  • Exodus 33:17 And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.
  • Exodus 33:18 And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.
  • Exodus 33:19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
  • Exodus 34:6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
  • 2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

My Heavenly Father, the Almighty God, truly You are merciful, gracious, longsuffering and abundant in goodness and truth. You have revealed Your glory through Jesus, that we may behold Your character through the Son of God. Keep my eyes fixed on Jesus, that the Spirit of God may change me into Your image, the lovely character of Christ.

67.  What spiritual fruit will be evident in my life if I am a true Christian?

  • Philippians 1:11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
  • John 15:8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
  • John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
  • Romans 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
  • Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Dear Heavenly Father, I do want to glorify You by bearing much fruit. You have chosen me to bring forth lasting fruit of holiness and righteousness. As I choose daily to surrender to You, to be Your servant, You set me free from sin and replace it with holiness. All the precious fruit of the Spirit reveals the righteousness You are willing to plant in my heart. That is my desire, Lord, that I may glorify You.

68.  What spiritual armor must I put on to be safe from the enemy?

  • Romans 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
  • 2 Corinthians 6:7 By the Word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,
  • Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
  • Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

Dear Lord, You have lovingly provided armor for me so that I can be protected from the wiles of the devil. Your Word calls it the armor of light and the armor of righteousness. It's like being encased by the spiritual attributes of Your character and Your powerful Word. If I am willing to accept Your surrounding armor, Satan can't touch me. Surround me, Lord, with Your pervasive presence, and may I keep You close all day, so You can be my armor of protection.

69.  As a Christian, is it my privilege and duty to walk in the Light?

  • Psalm 89:15 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.
  • Isaiah 2:5 O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.
  • John 12:36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
  • 1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
  • 1 John 2:10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

Dear Jesus, You declared Yourself to be the Light of the world. You want me to follow You, always walking in Your light. Your light is Your holiness, revealing my sins, and showing me the way to become like You. Show me, Jesus, in a personal way what it means to believe in the light, and love others with Your love. I want Your character to be revealed in me so I can shine Your light on others. Let me shine today for You, dear Jesus.

70.  Will Jesus sanctify me, setting me apart for His holy use, if I depend fully on Him?

  • 1 Corinthians 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
  • 1 Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
  • 1 Thessalonians 4:3, 4 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • 1 Peter 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

In Jesus' name, I come to You, Father, praising You for sanctifying me in Him. Jesus, You are everything to me, and I owe everything to You. Take me wholly, entirely, setting me apart to serve You in holiness. Only by the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus am I able to obey, and be preserved blameless before You. May Your holy will be done in my life, I pray.

71.  Since I am incapable of doing God's will on my own, will God work in me to do His will?

  • Ezekiel 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
  • Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
  • Philippians 2:12, 13 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
  • Hebrews 13:21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
  • 1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the Word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the Word of men, but as it is in truth, the Word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

Dearest Lord, I thank You and praise You for this precious promise. You have promised to put Your Spirit in me so that I will want to obey You, and do that which pleases You. It is Your work in me, and You will carry it out as long as I trustingly depend upon You. Let me submit to Your work in me, and I give You all the praise and glory.

72.  Will a close connection with Jesus empower me to love and obey Him?

  • John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
  • John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
  • John 15:6, 7 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
  • 1 John 2:24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
  • 1 John 2:28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

Lord Jesus, I crave Your abiding presence, a continual awareness that You are pouring Your grace into me. Let Your Words permeate my mind, guiding my thoughts and motives so that everything I do will be molded by Your Spirit. I admit I am powerless to make one holy decision without Your abiding influence. Enable me to maintain a continual connection, Lord, so that I can respond to every heart prompting from Your Spirit.

73.  How can I keep from falling into temptation?

  • Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
  • Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
  • Luke 8:13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the Word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
  • Luke 22:40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
  • Luke 22:46 And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

Father, I must depend on Your spirit, and not on my flesh. You will deliver me if I submit to Your leading. Keep me, Lord, from falling into temptation. Teach me to grow deep spiritual roots by diligent prayer. Teach me to study Your Words attentively so that they are firmly implanted in my mind. You will do Your part to keep me from temptation. Show me how to cooperate with You by doing my part, in seeking You with all my heart.

74.  Does God promise to deliver me from temptation?

  • 1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
  • Hebrews 2:18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
  • 2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
  • 2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
  • Revelation 3:10 Because thou hast kept the Word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Oh Lord, You truly will provide a way to escape every temptation that comes my way! You are well able to help me, and keep me from evil. You have a 1000 ways to deliver me from temptation if I will just turn to You. Let me adhere steadfastly to Your Word that You may fulfill it in me.

75.  Has God promised to give me victory over sin?

  • Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
  • Revelation 14:5 And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.

Father, what powerful promises of victory You have given me! They are declared with Your creative power that cannot fail. Immerse me in the belief that they are so, that I will receive them as reality in my own life. I claim them as mine, and I hold them close as priceless treasures. My heart rejoices in praise and thanksgiving to You for giving me these promises of victory.

76.  Does God promise me power to overcome?

  • 1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
  • 1 John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
  • Revelation 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
  • Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the Word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
  • Revelation 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Dear Lord, to be an overcomer by the precious blood of the Lamb, that is my highest goal. Only with You dwelling in me, Lord, is that possible. By clinging to You in faith, relying upon You continually, Your power will enable me to be an overcomer. I praise You, Lord, for this privilege of overcoming this wicked world, and inheriting the Heavenly kingdom as Your child, sitting with You on Your throne! What a humbling thought that You are wiling to do this for me!

77.  If I stay close to God, am I assured of power to tread down the enemy?

  • Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
  • Psalm 91:13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

  • Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
  • Romans 16:20 And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

My Creator and Redeemer, I want that hatred of sin in my heart, so that I can trample the serpent under my feet. Without You, I am a helpless victim of the dragon, but with You fighting with me, Satan will be vanquished. When I choose to be on Your side, I am assured of victory in Jesus!

78.  Will God give me all the strength that I need to please Him?

  • Psalm 29:11 The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.
  • Psalm 31:24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.

  • Colossians 1:11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

Father, I acknowledge my frailty, my weakness and my desperate need of Your strength. You have promised me Your strength. Let me learn to wait on You in total confidence, that You may strengthen me according to Your glorious power. Then I can praise You with joy even in suffering and difficult times Because through Your strength I can do all things. Thank You, Jesus!

79.  What does it mean to totally surrender, or yield myself to God?

  • 2 Chronicles 30:8 Now be ye not stiffnecked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves unto the LORD, and enter into his sanctuary, which he hath sanctified for ever: and serve the LORD your God, that the fierceness of his wrath may turn away from you.

  • 1 Timothy 4:15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

Dear Lord, teach me to yield myself to You, to allow myself to brought into intimacy with You. I want to give myself wholly to You, to fulfill Your plans for my life, laying aside my selfish plans and desires. Let me yield my will, which controls every decision and desire to Your perfect will, so that You have authority over every area of my life.

Father, I present myself to You entirely, physically, mentally, and spiritually. I give myself away to You, so that I am all Yours, to enter into irrevocable intimate fellowship with You, a lifetime commitment, trusting in You to protect me and to provide everything I need, forever. I need You, Jesus. I cannot walk without You.
