A New Covenant with Israel - 192 - 196

192.  Is Israel today only those with Jewish bloodlines, or is it all who truly worship God?

  • Romans 2:29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
  • Romans 9:26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.
  • Romans 10:12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
  • Galatians 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
  • Colossians 3:11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

Precious Father, I thank You that I am accepted into Your family as an heir, as one of Abraham's children. Thank You for the inward spiritual circumcision, where You cut out the carnal heart, and implanted a new heart. I am just as loved and special to You as any of Your other children, no matter the race. Your chosen people are now all those who are Christ's. We are one in Christ, and there is no difference in rank or degree. Thank You, Lord for Your abundant love!

193.  Who did God make the new covenant with?

  • Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
  • Jeremiah 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
  • Jeremiah 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
  • Hebrews 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
  • Hebrews 8:8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

Dear Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Your chosen people, the children of Israel are the only people with whom You have entered into covenant relationship. I must be part of Israel to be a partaker of the new covenant. In Jesus Christ, I am adopted as one of Your spiritual children, a spiritual Israelite, and can enter into a new covenant relationship with You. The same law You wrote on 2 tables of stone with Your own finger, You will now write on my heart. It is Your law embedded there along with the power to obey it. What a better ministry, a better covenant and better promises we have in Jesus Christ. Thank You, Lord!

194.  What is the covenant that God makes with Israel?

  • Hebrews 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
  • Hebrews 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
  • Hebrews 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
  • Hebrews 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
  • Hebrews 12:25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape , if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:

Father, these verses are describing Your plan to rescue humanity from their alliance with the enemy. You want to take each willing person, and recreate us in Your image, with Your principles. You want to cleanse all sinful rebellion out of our minds. Jesus, it is Your shed blood that makes this possible, and we answer directly to You. There is no longer any earthly priesthood, but Jesus, You are our mediator. Teach me, Lord Jesus, to respond to You, and allow You to write Your law on my heart. Help me not to ever refuse You, but make me willing, humble and obedient.

195.  Does God promise to keep His covenant with His people?

  • Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
  • 1 Chronicles 16:15 Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the Word which he commanded to a thousand generations;
  • Psalm 89:34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
  • Psalm 105:8 He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the Word which he commanded to a thousand generations.
  • Ecclesiastes 3:14 14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.

Dear Merciful, covenant-keeping God, You are faithful to keep Your covenant promises. You have promised to save all who are willing, to transform us into Your image. All You want from me is a willing heart, an obedient heart, willing to love, willing to obey, willing to believe in Your promises. Lord, give me a willing heart so that I can enter intoYour promised covenant which You will keep to a thousand generations, in other words, as long as earth shall last!

196.  Since the old covenant no longer exists, if we are partakers of the new covenant, then whose heritage is ours?

  • Psalm 61:5 For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.
  • Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
  • Isaiah 58:13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
  • Isaiah 58:14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it .
  • James 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

Father, what a wonderful heritage is mine. Since I belong to Christ, I share the same heritage as all that love You. All the promises in Your Word are for me! Teach me to delight in You, and especially in Your Sabbath rest, so that You will feed me with the heritage of Jacob. Thank You that I am an heir of the kingdom.
